Too late

In the darkness of space the,
raven flew high,
swallowing the stars,
until light was no more.

The people cheered,
naked and unaware that,
light would not return.

The people laughed,
naked and unaware that,
light would not return.

When they realized they,
tried to light flames but,
no flame would arise.

In darkness they stood,
unaware of the chains that,
rusted on their wrists.

They pined for light,
remembering the days of color,
the nights of beauty.

The raven did as he promised,
but they were too ignorant to,
understand the meaning.

Those that spoke out were,
cast out, starved,
until death embraced them,
now everyone calls for death but,
death will not arrive so readily.

Only in hindsight do,
the people understand the,
ravens meaning,
only now it's too late,
now they are meals for demons.
